Millepied gives ballet the elbow in final Paris season

Choreographer Benjamin Millepied's final season at the Paris Opera Ballet, unveiled Wednesday, contains only two classical ballets -- with his successor pointedly declaring that her time in charge will be very different. Dance star Millepied -- husband of Hollywood actress Natalie Portman -- spectacularly quit the bastion of classical ballet last week after little more than a year in charge, after his plans to radically reform the institution ran into the sand. With insiders saying that such programming would leave many of the ballet's 154 dancers twiddling their toes, his replacement Aurelie Dupont insisted she would not be following the same line.
