Amid US empathy with France, Republicans round on Obama

As Americans showed effusive solidarity Saturday with France after the Paris attacks, conservative politicians quickly shifted the debate to what they call President Barack Obama's failed strategy against jihadists. Scenes of US empathy after Friday's massacres abound: One World Trade Center, buildings in San Francisco and Dallas, and the ice rink at the Washington Capitals hockey arena have all lit up in the blue, white and red colors of the French flag. Flowers, candles and bottles of wine were placed outside the French Embassy in Washington and the consulate in New York following the attacks that killed at least 129 people and wounded hundreds more.
