Former Oakland Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler was suffering from the brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) before his death from cancer last July, the New York Times reported Wednesday, renewing health concerns around American football just days away from the Super Bowl. The Times reported that researchers at Boston University who had analyzed Stabler's brain, which had been donated by his family, had found he had been suffering from "moderately severe" CTE.
